Experiential Learning
Mentor: Josh Birnbaum
The newest element of our program, experiential learning, brings together creative youth to serve community needs through client-based art and media projects. After word spread in the community about the incredible art students made during the 2026 summer camp, local individuals contacted us specifically requesting to hire our youth for their photography services.
Supported by a mentor, youth were able to meet with a community organization, the Logan Theater group, to create photographs for their upcoming performance of The Last Canal Boat, a locally-written and produced play about the history of the region. Students Karlena Cunningham and Laikyn Frost were able to effectively utilize lights, cameras, and backdrops to create stunning historically-themed portraits of characters in the play, to be utilized for the marketing of the production!
// The Process //
The goal of this new program is to continue fostering youth creativity outside of our main programs, while building community partnerships and enhancing local connections. These youth are learning about creative production, technology, business, and relationships — and having fun too!
