Barb Campagnola: Founder and Director Emeritus
Barb founded this program when she saw the community had a need and directed the program for 19 years. Before working in non-profits, she owned a restaurant, catering business, and small marketing company.
Josh Birnbaum: Executive Director and Photography Teacher
Josh has taught photography classes with the program since 2014. He is a Professor of Instruction in the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University, where he teaches photojournalism, documentary photography, and video storytelling. He has also worked extensively with the Athens Photographic Project.
Kaila Rife: Operations Director
Kaila works as the Operations Director for Circle Round the Square. She is the main point of communication for guardians and campers alike. She attended the program as a camper for eight consecutive years before returning as a staff member.
Teaching Staff
Ann Judy: Fashion Teacher / Curriculum Director
Ann is a Nelsonville artist and art educator. She is the founding member of Starbrick Gallery Artisan Cooperative, and was an instructor for Hocking College’s Art program before becoming Fiber Art Studio Manager at the Dairy Barn Cultural Arts Center. She has taught art camps more years than she can count and “loves every minute of it!”
Patty Stultz: Fashion Teacher
Patty graduated from OU with a BFA, and later, from nursing school. She worked as a nurse for 26 years, but never lost her passion to create. She loves reusing and repurposing everything and anything in her art and has been teaching with Circle for many years.
Jessica Fletcher: Music Teacher
Jessica Fletcher, MM, MT-BC, is a board certified music therapist, with experience working in mental health, addiction/recovery, corrections, and trauma-informed care throughout Southeastern Ohio. She currently teaches at Ohio University as a music therapy professor, and has a passion for Hip Hop and trauma informed education.
Chris Monday: comic book Teacher
Chris Monday is a multimedia artist from Athens, Ohio, whose work includes paintings, comic strips, graphic novels, etchings, music, music videos, animation, corporate product labels, shirt designs, flyers, promotional posters, and more. He is also a father of three, and an organic veggie farmer.
Ryan Eilbeck: Music Co-Teacher
Ryan Eilbeck is an interdisciplinary artist, musician, writer, and audio engineer from Berea, Ohio. While working towards an M.F.A. in Communication & Media Arts at Ohio University, he enjoys recording all kinds of sounds, journaling, writing songs, and listening to records with friends.
Francine Orr: Photography Co-Teacher
Francine Orr worked as a staff photojournalist at the Los Angeles Times from 2000 to 2024, after freelancing and contracting for the paper since 1992. She was recently a Knight Fellow at the School of Visual Communication at Ohio University, where she is now an M.F.A. candidate and graduate teaching assistant.
